EDUCATION AND EXCHANGE

In a world where people and art forms constantly cross borders, where the traditional identification of an art form with a geographical origin no longer reflects lived reality, how can we build meaningful connections across borders, oceans, and disciplines without losing our sense of rootedness in an artistic practice, a place, or an aesthetic philosophy?

The Post Natyam Collective, geographically spread out itself, aims to foster concrete structures for creating connections and exchange between practitioners and theorists of South Asian contemporary aesthetics.

We hope to encourage potential interdisciplinary and intercultural collaboration and to establish opportunities for international exchanges, sharing of performance work and scholarship, as well as mentorship.

At the moment, you can access an account of our current long-distance choreographic process and the assignments the collective members give each other in our blog.

In the realm of teaching and education, Post Natyam Collective members have been developing a comprehensive curriculum which will serve as a resource to Collective members as well as the community at large in the future. Through master classes, workshops, lecture-demonstrations and residencies, we share our approaches in a variety of settings, including but not limited to academic, professional, and community contexts. The curriculum fosters creative approaches to choreography and movement practices as related to South Asian aesthetics. It embraces collaboration and explores progressive, critically engaging themes, while also integrating historical contexts and theoretical analysis.
